Dutch academics declare research free-for-all

Scientists from all major Dutch universities officially launched a website on Tuesday where all their research material can be accessed for free. Interested parties can get hold of a total of 47,000 digital documents from 16 institutions the Digital Academic Repositories. No other nation in the world offers such easy access to its complete academic research output in digital form, the researchers claim. Obviously, commercial publishers are not amused.

EQ – Emotional Intelligence

What is EQ ?

* EQ stands for Intelligence Quotient.
* Quotient is originally a mathematics concept, referring to the number obtained by dividing one number by another.
* IQ, standing for Intelligence Quotient, is the measure of a person’s cognitive intelligence.
* “EQ” (emotional quotient) was adopted from the term “IQ ” (intelligence quotient).
* EQ, Emotional Intelligence, EI, Emotional IQ, Social Intelligence — These terms are often used interchangeably.
* A high EQ is exhibited by the ability to acknowledge and value feelings in the self and others and to appropriately respond to them, e.g., tolerance, empathy and compassion for others and resilience to bounce back from emotional upsets, such as disappointment, anger, jealousy and fear.
* EQ can be more important than IQ. Smart people, children as well as adults, may not achieve success and happiness in life if they lack of EQ.
* The concept of “Emotional Intelligence” was coined by John Mayer and Peter Salovey in the 1980′s.
* Psychologist Danial Goleman’s 1995 book “Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ” has brought to the world’s attention that it is our emotions, not cognitive skills, that affect our level of relationship satisfaction, health and happiness, and effectiveness in life.

Ovim istraživanjem, rađenim na uzorku od 407 ispitanika bošnjačke i srpske nacionalnosti u Sarajevu i Banjaluci, analiziraju se struktura i sadržaji etničkih stereotipa mladih u BiH. Rezultati ukazuju na izražene negativne stereotipe mladih bošnjačke i srpske nacionalnosti jednih prema drugima, ali takođe i velike sličnosti stereotipnih predstava o ostalim narodima.

U završnim razmatranjima diskutuju se teorijske i praktične konsekvence dobijenih rezultata. Zaključuje se, da postojanje jasne podijeljenosti ljudi u grupe po etničkom kriterijumu, a potkrijepljeno ranijom istorijom konfliktnih odnosa dovodi do opažanja i procjena zasićenih negativnim atributima, a potencijalno i do konflikta. Sugeriše se da moguće rješenje leži u nekonfliktnoj edukaciji, većoj međusobnoj komunikaciji i komunikacijama sa svijetom uopšte.

Knjiga profesora Radojice Bojanovića «Autoritarni pogled na svet»,je koncipirana kroz šest poglavlja u kojima se analiziraju pre svega psihološke predispozicije za antidemokratsko mišljenje i ponašanje, zatim sindrom autoritarnog pogleda na svet, njemu srodnih fenomena i njihovih latentnih i manifestnih karakteristika.

Pošavši od uverenja da stavovi koji su zastupljeni sa najvećom učestalošću u mišljenju antidemokratskih osoba čine sindrom, odnosno celinu koja ima «svoje značenje i svoju unutrašnju logiku», sindrom autoritarni pogled na svet, smatra autor, može se posmatrati kroz sledeće kategorije:

1. pasionirana sklonost prema opredeljivanju za određene političke i druge grupe i za njihove ideje
2. verovanje u postojanje velikog, pravednog cilja ili velike ideje kojoj je vredno posvetiti život
3. prihvatanje dogmi
4. osećanje etičke superiornosti
5. negativan odnos prema razlikovanju
6. netrpeljivost prema nesaglasnim idejama
7. pesimističko shvatanje ljudske prirode
8. nekritičan odnos prema vođi
9. uverenje da se svet može definisati kao pozornica na kojoj se bore dobro i zlo 10.mehanički pogled na ljudsku prirodu
10. prihvatanje manipulacije ljudima
11. prihvatanje principa «cilj opravdava sredstvo»
12. procena stanja u društvu na osnovu pozicije svoje političke grupe i njene ideologije.

Cilj empirijske provere je bio utvrđivanje da li različiti antidemokratski stavovi zaista čine povezan sistem stavova. Uzorak su sačinjavale 437 osoba različitog nivoa obrazovanja, starosti, različitog pola, brojno ujednačenog .Instrumenti koji su korišćeni u istraživanju su uglavnom koncipirani za ovu priliku, i ponuđeni ispitanicima kroz skale stavova Likertovog tipa sa četiri moguća odgovora. Empirijski je potvrđena pretpostavka da je autoritarni pogled na svet sindrom i da predstavlja povezan sistem stavova. U ukupnom uzorku korelacije pojedinih subskala i skale u celini su visoke. Posmatrajući korelacije na celom uzorku i na svim poduzorcima, najviše rangove zauzimaju skale dogmatizma, odnosa prema razlikovanju i individualizmu, netrpeljivosti prema nesaglasnim idejama, idolopokloničkog odnosa prema vođama i sklonosti prema pasioniranom opredeljivanju. Od 13 elemenata autoritarnog pogleda na svet sledećih 8 elemenata se statističkom analizom izdvojilo kao najreprezentativniji pokazatelji: pasionirana sklonost prema opredeljivanju, verovanje u postojanje velikog cilja ili velike ideje, prihvatanje dogmi, osećanje etičke superiornosti, negativan odnos prema razlikovanju, netrpeljivost prema nesaglasnim idejama, pesimističko shvatanje ljudske prirode, nekritički odnos prema vođi.

Trodnevna radionica u sklopu regionalnog programa podrške radu na suočavanju s prošlosti u Bosni i Hercegovini.

Radionica je organizirana u suradnji izmedju Omladinske organizacije Odisej Bratunac i Quaker Peace and Social Witness, a zamišljena kao osnovni trening za 15-tak aktivistkinja i aktivista sa područja istočne Bosne, tj. namjenjena je prvenstveno mlađim osobama (17 – 25 godina) zainteresiranim za rad na transformaciji sukoba, nenasilju, ljudskim pravima te izgradnje mira u širem smislu, odnosno specifičnije osobama zainteresiranim za rad na suočavanju sa prošlošću, pogotovo onom nasilnom, nedavnom iz prošlog desetljeća.

Sastanak Rektorske konferencije Bosne i Hercegovine održan je danas u Sarajevu pod predsjedanjem rektora Univerziteta u Sarajevu prof. dr. Hasana Muratovića

Na sastanku je razgovarano o osnivačkim dokumentima Rektorske konferencije, Statutu i Poslovniku o radu te o projektu reformi u skladu s Bolonjskom deklaracijom.

Rektori su se složili da na svim univerzitetima novu generaciju studenata treba upisati po novom sistemu i programima studija usklađenim s reformama univerziteta.

Rektori inzistiraju na što hitnijem usvajanju jedinstvenog zakona o visokom obrazovanju, najkasnije do marta ove godine, jer će u suprotnom svi univerziteti inzistirati na donošenju kantonalnih zakona, koji će omogućiti rad reformiranih univerziteta i novi sistem studiranja od početka sljedeće akademske godine.

Članovi Rektorske konferencije Bosne i Hercegovine su rektori univerziteta u Sarajevu, Tuzli, Bihaću, Zenici, Istočnom Sarajevu, te rektor Univerziteta u Mostaru i rektor Univerziteta “Džemal Bijedić” iz Mostara.

Moodle

Moodle is a course management system (CMS) – a software package designed to help educators create quality online courses. Such e-learning systems are sometimes also called Learning Management Systems (LMS) or Virtual Learning Environments (VLE). One of the main advantages of Moodle over other systems is a strong grounding in social constructionist pedagogy.

Moodle is Open Source software, which means you are free to download it, use it, modify it and even distribute it (under the terms of the GNU General Public License). Moodle runs without modification on Unix, Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, Netware and any other system that supports PHP, including most webhost providers. Data is stored in a single database: MySQL and PostgreSQL are best supported, but it can also be used with Oracle, Access, Interbase, ODBC and others.

In the current study, the researchers used a brain imaging technique known as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to measure the brain activity of 14 individuals with high functioning autism while they performed a simple memory task involving letters of the alphabet. Specifically, the study volunteers were shown a sequence of letters. After each letter, they were asked to name the letter that preceded it. In some cases, they were asked to name the letter that appeared two letters previously. The autism volunteers’ brain activation patterns were compared to a control group of people who did not have autism, but were of a similar age and I.Q. level.

A new study suggests that people with autism may perform unusually well on some tests of visual processing.

The researchers found that autistic people were less likely than others to have false memories about images they had seen earlier. The researchers had previously demonstrated this kind of effect with verbal material, but not with visual material.

In this case, the results suggest that the autistic people had trouble seeing the images in context %u2013 a hallmark of the disorder.

The study’s findings point out that the effects of autism may be more general than researchers once thought.

TRANSFORMACIJA STUDIJA PSIHOLOGIJE

Magistarski studij
MAGISTARSKE STUDIJE ODSJEKA ZA PSIHOLOGIJU

Od 2003. godine na Odsjeku postoje magistarske studije. Studije su prvenstveno namjenjene podizanju naučnog podmlatka na Odsjeku za psihologiju Filozofskog fakulteta u Banja Luci i za druge kandidate koji pokazuju interes i afinitet za bavljenje naučno istraživačkim radom u oblasti psiholoških nauka. Studije su opšteg usmjerenja, a smjerovi su: Opšta psihologija, Socijalna psihologija, Pedagoška psihologija, Socijalna patologija, � kolska psihologija i Psihoterapija i savjetovanje.

Pravo upisa na postdiplomske studije imaju kandidati koji ispunjavaju opšte i posebne uslove. Opšti uslov je da su kandidati završili odgovarajuću studijsku grupu na Filozofskom fakultetu, a posebni uslovi koje kandidati treba da ispunjavaju regulisani su Pravilnikom o postdiplomski studijama na Filozofskom fakultetu u Banja Luci.

Men: Higher Intelligence Score Early On, Lower Suicide Rate Later In Life – Psychology Archives
According to a study published in a recent issue of the British Medical Journal, intellectual capacity in early adulthood is strongly related to later reduced risk of suicide in men. When measured by intelligence tests, the strongest associations were with the logic test score, where the risk of suicide was three times higher in the lowest compared with the highest scorers.
